The creative team of the project is presented by high professionals and talented creators from Latvia and Russia and impresses with the scope of plans and ideas.

The center and chief curator is Maria de Valukhoff, a theatrical figure, actress, theater and film director, with PhD in art history. Her original projects are expressive and unusual, filled with music and enchanting action. Most of the team members have extensive experience in large-scale events in theater, cinema, television, stage and are united by common productions.

For example, Maria worked with actor Rihards Lepers on the set of her film In One Breath, where he played the main character, and in the play The Queen of Spades he will embody the role of Tomsky. Hermann will be performed by the young actor Marat Efendiev, who is remembered by the audience for his notable works in the Mikhail Chekhov Riga Russian Theater. Lizaveta Ivanovna will be played by the talented student of the Latvian Academy of Music Jana Lute.

The demonic image of the countess will be created by Maria de Valukhoff herself.

The Queen of Spades

Developing the tradition of dacha theater, which arose within the avant-garde movement of the early 20th century, the historical wooden building of a family dacha in Jurmala was chosen as a stage for an experimental performance lasting a little over an hour. It was this particular solution that turned out to be the only possible one in the context of a pandemic and a de facto ban on public events. The genre of the performance can be described as ‘mystical anecdote’. It meant for four actors and combines drama, opera and choreography. The work is dedicated to the memory of the Russian actor Viktor Proskurin, for whom the role of Hermann in the movie The Queen of Spades became the most important in his career.
